Variations on “Battle Hymn”

1-Roll down to “set” position


2-Ripple Intro:
A-drop spins (1-2; 8)
B- drop spins (3-4; 8)
C- drop spins (5-6; 8)

3-Carve:
Slow 8 count carve

4-Angles
Up left (1-2)
Up right (3-4)
Down left (5-6)
Down right (7-8)

5-Weight shifting
Weight on left leg, right foot in passe; right backward row (1-4)
Left slam with saute hop (5-8)

6-Around-the-world
Right to left (down 1, parallel 2, down 3, up 4, open 5-8)

7-Moving turns
Lower carve (1-4)
Left turn (5-8)

8-“Rise and Shout”
Right shoulder (1-2)
Straight up over head, full arm extension (3-4)
“Head chop” behind the back from right to left and back up (5-6)
Right shoulder 7-8

9-Pull toss
Single pull toss

10- Roll down/parade cradle carry

**Notice there are VERY FEW changes from the first routine. There are 24 counts more in this song- 16 at the beginning and 8 towards the very end.**

Slow 8 count carve

4-Angles
Up left (1-2)
Up right (3-4)
Down left (5-6)
Down right (7-8)

5-Weight shifting
Weight on left leg, right foot in passe; right backward row (1-4)

Up 1 (right shoulder position), down 2 (behind left hip), up 3, right slam 4, up center 5, down 6 (sweeping from left foot to right foot), up 7 (by right hip), down 8 (behind right hip)

10- Pull toss
Transitioning from the butterfly- continue the motion from the butterfly and bring the flag back up to center on counts 1-2, switch and set hands on counts 3-4, pull 5 and, toss 6, catch 7, hold 8.
Single pull toss
